Cracklebox #1

The Kraakdoos or Cracklebox was designed by Michel Weiviesz and Geert Hamelberg in the 1960s, and further in the 1970s when at the STEIM foundation in Amsterdam. Originally driven by an LM709 opamp, it had six metal contact points that when pressed made the human body part of the circuit and determined the range of sounds possible. This made possible that different people–or the same person at different times– could generate different results.

This updated version commissioned by Pilar has an LM386 and 5 contact points, but the principle and the noises that you can make remains the same.
